What is arp meaning?

ARP stands for Address Resolution Protocol. It is a network protocol used to map an IPv4 address (Internet Protocol version 4) to a physical address such as a MAC (Media Access Control) address. ARP is used by devices in a network to find and locate other devices. When a device wants to communicate with another device on the network, it first checks its ARP cache to see if it already has the MAC address of the destination device. If it does not have it, it will send an ARP request asking for the MAC address of the device with the given IP address. The device with the matching IP address will respond with its MAC address, and the requesting device can then use that information to communicate with the other device. ARP operates at the Data Link Layer (Layer 2) of the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model.
